Orissa Cyclone Relief Funds: 275 Tons of Relief Material Collected

In November 1999, outrEACH worked in partnership with AGNI (Action for Good Governance & Networking in India), IOC (Indian Oil Corporation), The Times of India, several NGOs and volunteers to collect relief material in Bombay and distribute in Orissa within a month of the supercyclone in October 1999.

28 IOC and 2 Bharat Petroleum petrol pumps in Bombay functioned as collection centres. Truckloads of relief material was collected every evening. Indian Railways arranged for special trains to carry this relief material to Bhubaneshwar in Orissa.

Cheque and cash donations were also collected at some centres, and handed over to The Times of India Relief Fund. Rs. 40 lakhs was collected towards Orissa Cyclone Relief.

Gujarat Earthquake Relief

After Gujarat Earthquake of January 2001, contributions were collected in collaboration with other NGOs and major corporations.
